Additional Notes By comparison with the vegetation of limestone scars of Swaledale at similar aspect and high altitude, for example Oxnop Scar (SWAAG Record No 350) and Long Scar in Great Sleddale (SWAAG Record No 327 ) the ashwood communities here at Fosse Gill Head and the adjacent Raven Scar (SWAAG Record No 721 and ) are very depleted. A further visit will be made in summer to record the vegetation and any further trees present.
